Overview

The Laboratory allows hunters to collect map pieces to a new location, and to to collect Radioactive Blue Potions.

These potions are not common, but a dedicated hunter can collect a reasonable number over time.

Radioactive Blue cheese can be used in the Laboratory to attract the Monster Mouse – a very strong mouse that offers a decent amount of loot in the form of numerous pieces of cheese, and a few other items that are useful in other locations.

Hunters are advised to choose a trap that offers a decent combination of luck and power in this location, to increase their chances of collecting potions.

The Dwarf Mouse drops the map to the Town of Digby.

Requirements

To hunt in the Laboratory a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Master.
    The Burroughs Laboratory Map Piece from a Ninja Mouse in the Mountain.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A decent Physical Weapon.
    At least Swiss Cheese.

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Catch a Dwarf with the key

In the Laboratory the Dwarf Mouse can drop the Key to the Town of Digby, a new location that you can travel to as soon as you have the key.

If you’re using Swiss or Brie, the Dwarf mouse should visit sooner or later. They’re not too common, but they are there.

Being a weak mouse that you’ve caught plenty of already, the trap you’re using for the Laboratory should be more than sufficient to catch this mouse.

Catch a Monster Mouse

Hunting the Monster Mouse in the Laboratory is a goal to embark upon only once you feel ready. The Monster Mouse is the toughest mouse you’ll have encountered so far, and isn’t easy to catch (even for experienced hunters).

If you feel you’re ready for this challenge, you’ll need to use Radioactive Blue cheese, and your best trap.

Most trap types will work against the Monster, so just focus on your best combination of power and luck.

You might miss a lot of Monster mice before you catch one, but don’t be disheartened: the rewards for catching one can be quite good.

Collect Radioactive Blue Potions

The main purpose of the Laboratory is for hunters to collection Radioactive Blue Potions. You’ll find you need a lot of these during your time hunting, and they’re not so easy to collect.

The first thing to remember, is that if you’re not collecting many, it’s probably not because you have the wrong setup, or the game is “broken”. Many people don’t realise quite how tough it is to collect these, and get disheartened.

Potion collecting takes mainly patience, but here’s a few other ideas to help you out:

Try using a high luck trap, it will slighly increase your chances of receiving the potions as loot. Most of the mice in the Laboratory aren’t too strong, so you could sacrifice a lot of power for more luck.

Brie will attract more of the mice you need to your trap than Swiss, so it might be worth the investment to use the better cheese.

And an unusual suggestion:

Using Radioactive Blue cheese to get Radioactive Blue Potions

Many people quite like using Radioactive Blue to collect more potions, and it’s not as silly as it might first seem.

However, this isn’t for everyone, so it’s worth considering a few things before you try this.

If you’re a Master and are converting Brie into Radioactive Blue, you might find you’re not collecting potions fast enough to make up for the cheese you use. As you increase through the ranks you’ll be able to convert more cheese per potion.

Those who are converting Super Brie into Radioactive Blue will find they’ve got even more cheese per potion, making this tactic even more effective.

You will encounter a lot of Monsters – great if you have a really powerful trap, terrible if you don’t.

So using Radioactive Blue is more of an advanced tactic, for those hunters who have moved on from the Laboratory and upgraded their traps, but have returned for more potions to use in later areas.

So what are the benefits of this tactic?

Well first, Radioactive Blue has a great attraction rate, about 95%, which means more mice.

Second, Radioactive Blue brings in Monsters that can drop the Greater Radioactive Blue Potion, a more potent version of the standard potion that can convert even more cheese.

Combine those two factors and using Radioactive Blue can be very effective for hunters with strong and lucky traps.

The Scientist’s charm can be used to speed up the process of collecting Radioactive Blue Potions, although as with other charms it is an expensive option.

Charms to use

The Scientist’s Charm can be used to increase the frequency and number of Radioactive Blue Potions dropped in the laboratory.

Overview

The Mousoleum is an area filled with powerful Shadow mice. It’s common for a hunter to miss as many mice as they catch here, but those they do catch offer some great rewards in terms of points and gold.

It’s advisable that a hunter uses Radioactive Blue cheese in the Mousoleum, and has a Shadow trap armed.

The powerful Lycan mouse, if caught, can drop a map to the Training Grounds in Furoma.

Requirements

To hunt in the Mousoleum a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Master.
    The Tattered Mousoleum Map from a Zombie Mouse in the Town of Digby.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A Shadow Weapon.
    Radioactive Blue Cheese.

Radioactive Blue really is the best overall cheese to use in the Mousoleum, most other types of cheese will result in failures to attract.

For those specifically hunting for the Lycan Mouse, Moon works very well here. You will attract mostly Lycan mice, so be prepared to miss most of the mice you encounter.

Goals

Catch a Lycan Mouse with the map

The Lycan Mouse is the toughest mouse you will encounter in the Mousoleum, and it drops the Shredded Furoma Map Piece.

Fortunately it is relatively common, so you should be able to attract this mouse without too much trouble.

There are two options for hunting this mouse; the first is to invest in a stronger Shadow Weapon.

Both the Sinister and Ambrosial Portals are quite capable of catching this mouse, but if you have enough gold, the Bottomless Grave will definately improve your chances of catching the Lycan Mouse.

The second option is to use Moon cheese. You will generally need to acquire quite a few pieces of this expensive cheese to ensure you catch the Lycan Mouse, but it is generally a cheaper and quicker alternative to upgrading your Shadow trap at this stage in the game.

Fortunately most of the Lycan mice caught do drop the map piece, so hopefully you won’t have to catch too many of them before you collect this loot.

Ambrosial or Sinister Portal?

As both of these traps are very similar, people are often undecided about which one to purchase.

The Ambrosial Portal offers a slightly better attraction rate, and a fresher cheese effect.

The Sinister Portal offers more power.

In terms of general guidance, the best weapon will depend on your style of play.

If you are a more active player, then the Sinister Portal is probably the better choice, offering quicker returns.

If you are a more passive player, then the Ambrosial Portal is probably the better choice, as it allows you gain the best returns from the limited cheese you have.

Can you use a Physical or Tactical Trap in the Mousoleum?

You may hear other players suggesting a high luck Physical or Tactical trap as an alternative to purchasing a Portal, claiming higher overall returns.

This certainly used to be the case, and many of those who make the suggestion are doing so from their own experiences.

However, the mechanics of the game have changed since this was a good idea. Luck used to be independent of effectiveness, now it is affected by it.

This has seriously reduced the ability of Physical and Tactical traps to perform in the Mousoleum.

So unfortunately, these types of trap are no longer a good alternative. A Shadow weapon is the best choice for this location.

Overview

The Bazaar isn’t normally an area that a hunter will want to spend a long time in.

The mice here aren’t too different from those found in the Town of Digby, although more Burglar mice frequent this location than anywhere else in the game, and one of those may drop the back cover of Plankrun’s Journal.

The most important use of the Bazaar is for its shops, that offer a variety of items that are vital to hunting in other areas.

Requirements

To hunt in the Bazaar a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Grandmaster.
    Ticket to the Burroughs Bazaar, obtained from a mouse in the Training Grounds.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    Any strong Weapon and Base.
    At least Brie Cheese.

The Bazaar is a noisy place full of merchants selling all sorts of whacky wares!

Beware of the Burglar mice. They run rampant here at the Bazaar and never hesitate to steal your gold!

The Bazaar contains 3 shops: a Cheese Shoppe, a General Store and a Cartographer.

Cheese Shoppe

The Cheese Shoppe of the Bazaar offers a good selection of cheese, but at prices 50% highter than those found elsewhere.

	Cheddar Cheese Cheddar is rather poor at attracting most mice, however hunters may find success with this cheese when hunting the more frail breeds. Cost: 15 gold Refund: 10 gold
	Marble Cheese Marble offers a decent chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 75 gold Refund: 50 gold
	Swiss Cheese Swiss offers a good chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 150 gold Refund: 100 gold
	Brie Cheese Brie offers a very good chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 300 gold Refund: 200 gold

General Store

The General Store of the Bazaar contains a number of items that can be used for crafting cheese and some traps.

Cartographer

The Cartographer of the Bazaar can craft map pieces to gain access to the Dojo, Mediation Room, Pinnacle Chamber and Catacombs.

It takes time to “upgrade” or repair a map, and during that time you will be without access to the locations that map would normally grant.

While maps are being repaired, you may be able to collect a second map of that type to allow access to those locations again.

You do not need to remain in the Bazaar while your map is being repaired; you may travel and return to collect the map at a later date.

Catch a Burglar Mouse with Plankrun’s Journal

While the Burglar Mouse is encountered in the Bazaar more than any other location, they are still not a very common mouse.

Using Brie or Super Brie will attract more Burglars than other types of cheese.

A strong or lucky trap of most power types is best used. Burglars are not too strong, but could be difficult for weak traps.

Even when caught, the Burglar does not drop the pages often; a high luck trap will help increase the chances of it doing so.

Collecting Flawless Orbs

Burglars and Master Burglars drop the Flawless Orb in this location and if you use the right cheese, those mice can be very common.

Using a cheese such as Brie or Gilded will attract a high number of these mice, and as long as you can catch them you stand a good chance of collecting Flawless Orbs.

Overview

At first glance the Town of Digby doesn’t appear to be more than a location with a trapsmith offering some new types of trap and a quick stop to pick up a map, but there are a couple of hidden facets to this location.

Granite mice drop meterorite pieces, which are used in crafting the very expensive, but potent Moon cheese – best used in the Mousoleum.

The Zombie Mouse dropss the map to the Mousoleum, at this stage one of the most difficult but profitable areas a hunter has encountered.

The Mole Mouse drops the map to the Training Grounds, allowing a hunter to avoid the Mousoleum if they choose to. The Mole Mouse can also drop the much rarer loot of part of Plankrun’s Journal.

Available here are Living Shards, which when combined with some Radioactive Sludge form a new cheese for the hunter to use here called Limelight.

Limelight attracts 11 entirely new mice that are only found in this location, and doesn’t attract any of the regular mice that are found here. Hunting with Limelight offers some very good point returns for the hunter.

Requirements

To hunt in the Town of Digby a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Master.
    The Key to the Town of Digby from a Dwarf Mouse in the Laboratory.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A strong Physical Weapon.

Hunting the Big Bad Burroughs mouse is risky, but could pay off big. Digby scientists report that a Big Bad ran off with a rare slab of Ohnoesium ore the other day, and I’ve heard that Ohnoesium can be very valuable to hunters. . .

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Catch a Mole Mouse

The Mole Mouse is only found in three locations in the game, the Meadow, the Windmill and the Town of Digby.

While it is not common in any location, it is easiest to attract in the Windmill, however the Mole of the Town of Digby drops some desirable loot. Collecting a Shredded Furoma Map Piece from the Mole mouse is the only way for a hunter to skip past the Mousoleum location, useful if you don’t want to invest in a Shadow weapon just yet.

Unfortunately there is no special cheese to use, so catching this mouse just requires a lot of patience.

Fortunately the Mole Mouse is quite weak, so most traps you will be using by this stage will be able to catch it.

Collect Meteorite Pieces

The Meteorite piece is used for crafting Moon cheese, and is only dropped by the Granite Mouse and the extremely powerful Big Bad Burroughs Mouse in the Town of Digby.

Granite mice are quite common in this location, and are relatively easy to catch.

However, they don’t always drop a Meteorite Piece when you catch them.

Using a trap with a high luck will help you to collect more meteorite pieces.

Catch a Zombie with the Map

The Zombie mouse drops the Tattered Mousoleum Map that is required to gain access to the Mousoleum and – after upgrading – the Catacombs.

The Zombie can be quite powerful for newer hunters, but a strong or lucky physical trap should have no real problems with catching this mouse.

Catch a Big Bad Burroughs Mouse

The Big Bad Burroughs Mouse is one of the most powerful mice in the game. There is no special power type to give a bonus against this mouse, which actually makes it the mouse you will fail to catch most often.

The one good point about the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse is that it is reasonably common, so you should get plenty of opportunities to try and catch this mouse.

To maximise your chances of catching this mouse, you should use your trap that has the highest combination of luck and power.

Remember, even the best traps will miss this mouse 7 out of 8 times, so perseverance is the key!

One of the items of loot the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse can drop is the Monolith Base, and catching this mouse is the only way to get one. Unfortunately the Base is not a guaranteed drop, so maximise your luck to avoid disappointment.

Catch a Nugget Mouse

The Nugget Mouse is the rarest mouse encountered in the Town of Digby when using Limelight.

It is pretty weak, so most traps should be able to catch it.

Unfortunately there is no special technique to help you attract this mouse, Limelight has a very high attraction rate so a good attraction bonus won’t be of much use.

When hunting this mouse, prepare plenty of Limelight in advance. On average you’ll only see it about once every 200 pieces of Limelight, so you might want to consider going in with more than that to avoid disappointment.

The Nugget Mouse can drop some pretty impressive loot, such as the DrillBot Parts, but this is quite rare, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get it!
