Overview

The Jungle of Dread is home to six very powerful mice, all of whom are only attracted to one specific Havarti cheese.

These mice each drop a different item of loot that is used to craft a special trap that is used to hunt for the Acolyte Mouse.

The Jungle is also home to one weaker mouse, that drops the Vanilla Bean used to craft Vanilla Stilton cheese for use in Balack’s Cove.

A Shadow trap is esential in the Jungle of Dread

Requirements

To hunt in the Jungle of Dread a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least .
    Have crafted the Ocean Navigation Kit.
    A Shadow Weapon.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    At least Gouda, or Havarti cheese.

Each of the 6 power mice here has their own preference of a specific brand of havarti cheese.

The only choice of cheese you have is when hunting for the Swarm of Pygmy Mice. Gouda is the cheaper option, but other cheese will work as well.

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Collect the Loot for the Ancient Box Trap

Each of the six powerful mice in the Jungle drop one loot item required for crafting the Ancient Box Trap, therefore you will need to catch at least one of all the mice.

We have very limited information on the likelyhood of each mouse dropping, but it’s probably worth planning to catch four of them to give yourself a good chance of obtaining the loot.

Collect Fire Salt

After collecting the 6 pieces of loot the main reason to hunt in the Jungle of Dread is to collect Fire Salt for use in Inferno Havarti.

Generally hunting for the Primal mouse is the best way to collect Fire Salt, Yellow Pepper Seeds are also the easiest to collect.

Collect Runic Potions

Runic Potions are dropped by the following mice: Chitinous (up to 2), Fetid Swamp (up to 1), Jurassic (up to 2), Magma Carrier (up to 3), Primal (up to 1) and Stonework Warrior (up to 1).

If you’re trying to collect these potions, the obvious choice is the hunt for the Magma Carrier, as they have the greatest potential drop, even though they are the hardest of the mice to catch.

Collecting Runic Potions offers further potential returns when used against the Acolyte, sometimes the Mysterious Box dropped by Acolytes contains additional Fire Salt.

Collect Vanilla Beans

Vanilla Beans are dropped quite regularly by the Swarm of Pygmy Mice.

A powerful Shadow trap will obviously help in catching this mouse, and high luck will encourage the Swarm of Pygmy Mice to drop slightly more often.

While it is possible to use Vanilla Stilton to get more Vanilla Beans, it is not recommended.

Due to a higher attraction rate and a lower encounter rate of Sylvans. you will get more Swarm of Pygmy mice with Vanilla Stilton than you would with Gouda.

If your trap is strong enough to catch most of these mice, you will obviously get more Vanilla Beans dropping.

Overview

The Nerg Plains is the Tactical location of the Tribal Isles, it contains a number of mice that are unique to this location and only a Tactical trap will be truely effective here.

Many of the mice drop Savoury Vegetables in this location, which are crafted into Gumbo cheese that can either be used in Cape Clawed or in Nerg Plains to attract the three most powerful mice of this location, all of whom drop Yellow Pepper Seeds.

Requirements

To hunt in the Nerg Plains a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Legendary.
    Have crafted the Ocean Navigation Kit.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A good Tactical Weapon.
    At least Gouda cheese.

I can barely see you over the tall grass! The terrain here makes it quite easy to hide, something I think the mice of the Nerg Tribe take full advantage of! Watch your back, it’s not uncommon for the Nerg to spring an ambush and pillage your supplies of cheese!

Now MouseHunter, bait your trap, lay low in the tall grass and keep your nose keen to the distinct scent of Savory Vegetables!

Mice Populations

Gumbo is the only cheese to use if you are after the three “boss” mice of Nerg.

If you are collecting Savoury Vegetables you will need to balance attraction rate and cost when deciding which cheese to use.

The more expensive cheese will bring in more Savoury Vegetables while hunting, but the the cheaper cheese will enable you to earn more gold.

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Collect Savoury Vegetables

Savoury Vegetables are required to make Gumbo Cheese, which is used to attract the Grandfather Mouse in Cape Clawed, and three mice in Nerg Plains, the Nerg Chieftain Mouse, Slayer Mouse and Defender Mouse.

Savoury Vegetables are dropped as loot by the Alnilam Mouse, Beast Tamer Mouse (upto 2), Caretaker Mouse, Conjurer Mouse, Conqueror Mouse, Finder Mouse (upto 3), Narrator Mouse and Pathfinder Mouse, each mouse only drops up to 1 Savoury Vegetable with the two exceptions mentioned above.

The weaker the mouse is, the less likely they are to drop Savoury Vegetables, with the Conqueror Mouse dropping 1 Savoury Vegetables in almost all cases.

Collect Yellow Pepper Seeds

Yellow Pepper Seeds are required to make a number of the Havarti Cheese used in the Jungle of Dread and Dracano, they are only dropped by the three mice in Nerg Plains that can only be attracted with Gumbo Cheese.

Yellow Pepper Seeds are dropped as loot by the Nerg Chieftain Mouse (upto 3), Slayer Mouse (upto 2) and Defender Mouse (upto 1).

High power and high luck Tactical traps are highly recommended when hunting these three mice.

Catch a Nerg Chieftain Mouse with the Blueprints

The Nerg Chieftain Mouse drops the Ancient Ripped Blueprint Piece, which is used for crafting the Ancient Box Trap.

The Nerg Chieftain Mouse is only attracted to Gumbo Cheese, is not commonly encountered and is the most powerful mouse in the location, fortunately it will drop the Blueprints in most cases (unless you already have them in your inventory), so it is an unlucky hunter who has to catch more than two before receiving this loot.

High power and high luck Tactical traps are highly recommended.

Overview

Welcome to Dracano, this location isn’t too tough to hunt in surprisingly considering the gold and points on offer.
However, collecting the special Inferno Havarti Cheese that is essential to hunt in this location can take a lot of preparation time, so chances are you either won’t be spending long here, or won’t be visiting too often.

There’s three new mice to hunt in this location that aren’t found anywhere else, and to hunt all three effectively you’ll want to use a Draconic trap, the only Draconic trap in the game at the moment is the Ice Maiden, and to craft that you have to have caught an Acolyte Mouse with a Frozen Scroll first.

So if you’re hunting with the Ice Maiden and using the Inferno Havarti, your only real choice for this location is which base to use, we all have our favourites, some prefer luck, others power, but in this location it’s not going to make a huge difference, so it’s probably best to go with the one you prefer.

To hunt in the Dracano a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least .
    Have crafted the Ocean Navigation Kit.
    Inferno Havarti cheese.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A Draconic Weapon.

Goals

Catch a Dragon Mouse

To catch a Dragon Mouse you need to use the Ice Maiden with Inferno Havarti, your only choice comes down to which base to use.

The Dragonbane charm is specifically designed for helping you hunt the Dragon, arming it can give you a noticable improvement in you catch rate, the only issue you have is collecting enough of them.

Collecting Dragon Embers

Dragon Embers are needed for crafting the map to Balack’s Cove and for crafting a new base, fortunately all mice in this location drop them, although the Dragon drops them most often.

Collecting the required number shouldn’t take the hunter too long.

Dragon Embers can be smashed to make Fire Salt, personally I wouldn’t recommend using them in this way. You never know when the Dragon Ember will have another use.

Hunting without a Draconic Weapon

For those who haven’t crafted the Ice Maiden, Dracano can still be a tempting location to hunt in.

Offering decent gold returns and some nice loot on offer, some hunters may wish to try weapons of different power types – but there are a few things to remember:

Non-Draconic Weapons will not catch the Dragon Mouse. If you want to catch this Mouse, use the Ice Maiden.

Non-Draconic Weapons often have higher luck than the Ice Maiden, meaning that you may well get more loot when hunting with them.

Due to higher Luck, non-Draconic Weapons may end up catching more mice overall than the Ice Maiden. This is because they can be much better at catching the Whelpling and Draconic Warden mice.

Overview

Cape Clawed looks like it should be the first area a hunter visits upon reaching the Tribal Isles, but strangely, it’s not.

Cape Clawed has two real uses, the first is for the shops that sell a variety of items used in crafting the specialist cheese found here. The second is in hunting the three “old” mice here to gain upgrades to existing traps.

Hunting here for loot is not advised, as loot drop rates are much lower than in other areas in the Tribal Isles.

Requirements

To hunt in the Cape Clawed a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Legendary.
    Have crafted the Ocean Navigation Kit.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    At least a decent Physical Weapon.
    At least Gouda cheese.

The Cape Clawed contains 3 shops: a Cheese Shoppe, a Trapsmith and a General Store.

Cheese Shoppe

The Cheese Shoppe of the Cape Clawed offers a small selection of cheese, but at twice the price of those found elsewhere.

However, also on offer is a new cheese not encountered before, Gouda.

	Brie Cheese Brie offers a very good chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 400 gold Refund: 200 gold
	Gouda Cheese Gouda arrives in crates that float into the Harbour, seemingly from areas off the eastern coast of Gnawnia. It has a very good chance of attracting a variety of mice, and its sharp flavour is a special favourite of the mice who inhabit the islands from where it is assumed to originate. Trapsmith

The Trapsmith of the Cape Clawed contains a selection of Shadow traps for use in the Jungle of Dread as well as a new base.

With a faint flash of purple light, the mouse is sent far into the future. To an outside observer, the trap appears to trigger in the blink of an eye, but to a mouse caught within the event, the journey seems much, much longer. The clock begins to blur as the hands spin faster and faster. The clock face glows eerily as everything that was once the present blends to what was once the future. The General Store of the Cape Clawed contains a good selection of items that can be used for traps, maps and cheese throughout the Tribal Isles.

Catch an Aged Mouse

When hunting for the Aged mouse you will need to use your best Physical trap and Crunchy cheese.

You can expect to miss a few of this mouse, but most hunters will catch it within about 30 cheese.

Catch an Elder Mouse

When hunting for the Elder mouse you will need to use your best Hydro trap and Shell cheese.

You can expect to miss a few of this mouse, but most hunters will catch it within about 30 cheese.

Catch a Grandfather Mouse

When hunting for the Grandfather mouse you will need to use your best Tactical trap and Gumbo cheese.

You can expect to miss a few of this mouse, but most hunters will catch it within about 30 cheese.

Should you hunt for loot here?

Some hunters consider hunting for the Delicious Stone, Savoury vegetable and Seashell loot in Cape Clawed, instead of going to the Derr Dunes, Nerg Plains or Elub Shore.

Normally this is a bad idea, loot dropping mice are encountered less frequently in Cape Clawed than in the other three areas, and the mice that are encountered in Cape Clawed drop loot less frequently.

However, if you do not have the appropriate power type of trap, this may be an alternative for you, as most of the mice here can be caught with physical traps.

Generally though, it is worth moving to the Derr Dunes to earn the gold to buy a trap of the power type you need.

Overview

The Derr Dunes is the Physical location of the Tribal Isles, it contains a number of mice that are unique to this location and only a Physical trap will be truely effective here.

Many of the mice drop Delicious Stones in this location, which are crafted into Crunchy cheese that can either be used in Cape Clawed or in Derr Dunes to attract the three most powerful mice of this location, all of whom drop Red Pepper Seeds.

Requirements

To hunt in the Derr Dunes a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least Legendary.
    Have crafted the Ocean Navigation Kit.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A good Physical Weapon.
    At least Brie cheese.

Great Scott, what in King’s name are we doing here?! Are you mad, MouseHunter? Members of the Derr tribe are ruthless, power-hungry war mongers! The reputation of the Derr Tribe is known across the Island. They topple even the most powerful of traps with ease, crippling hunters’ courage and pillaging their gold! Hunting here is not for the faint of heart, but capturing a member of the Derr tribe does come with a handsome reward of gold!

You’re on your own now, MouseHunter. This heavy suit of armour proves to be quite cumbersome when trying to navigate the rocky terrain here. Best of luck!

Crunchy is the only cheese to use if you are after the three “boss” mice of Derr.

If you are collecting Delicious Stones you will need to balance attraction rate and cost when deciding which cheese to use.

The more expensive cheese will bring in more Delicious Stones while hunting, but the the cheaper cheese will enable you to earn more gold.

Collect Delicious Stones

Delicious Stones are required to make Crunchy Cheese, which is used to attract the Aged Mouse in Cape Clawed, and three mice in Derr Dunes, the Derr Chieftain Mouse, Gladiator Mouse and Guardian Mouse.

Delicious Stones are dropped as loot by the Grunt Mouse (upto 3), Healer Mouse, Mintaka Mouse, Renegade Mouse, Seer Mouse, Spellbinder Mouse (upto 2), Trailblazer Mouse and Healer Mouse, each mouse only drops up to 1 Delicious Stone with the two exceptions mentioned above.

The weaker the mouse is, the less likely they are to drop Delicious Stones, with the Renegade Mouse dropping 1 Delicious Stone in almost all cases.

Collect Red Pepper Seeds

Red Pepper Seeds are required to make a number of the Havarti Cheese used in the Jungle of Dread and Dracano, they are only dropped by the three mice in Derr Dunes that can only be attracted with Crunchy Cheese.

Red Pepper Seeds are dropped as loot by the Derr Chieftain Mouse (upto 3), Gladiator Mouse (upto 2) and Guardian Mouse (upto 1).

High power and high luck Physical traps are highly recommended when hunting these three mice.

Catch a Derr Chieftain Mouse with the Blueprints

The Derr Chieftain Mouse drops the Ancient Mangled Blueprint Piece, which is used for crafting the Ancient Box Trap.

The Derr Chieftain Mouse is only attracted to Crunchy Cheese, is not commonly encountered and is the most powerful mouse in the location, fortunately it will drop the Blueprints in most cases (unless you already have them in your inventory), so it is an unlucky hunter who has to catch more than two before receiving this loot.

High power and high luck Physical traps are highly recommended.

Overview

The Elub Shore is the Hydro location of the Tribal Isles and it contains a number of mice unique to this location; only a Hydro weapon will be truly effective here.

Many of the mice drop Seashells in this location, which are crafted into Shell cheese that can either be used in Cape Clawed or in Elub Shore to attract the three most powerful mice of this location, all of whom drop Blue Pepper Seeds.

Collect Seashells

Seashells are required to make Shell Cheese, which is used to attract the Elder Mouse in Cape Clawed, and three mice in Elub Shore, the Elub Chieftain Mouse, Champion Mouse and Protector Mouse.

Seashells are dropped as loot by the Alchemist Mouse, Alnitak Mouse, Mystic Mouse (up to 2), Pack Mouse (up to 3), Scout Mouse, Soothsayer Mouse, Taleweaver Mouse and Vanquisher Mouse, each mouse only drops up to 1 Seashell with the two exceptions mentioned above.

The weaker the mouse is, the less likely they are to drop Seashells, with the Vanquisher Mouse dropping 1 Seashell in almost all cases.

Collect Blue Pepper Seeds

Blue Pepper Seeds are required to make a number of the Havarti Cheese used in the Jungle of Dread and Dracano, they are only dropped by the three mice in Elub Shore that can only be attracted with Shell Cheese.

Overview

Balack’s Cove is the second location that was introduced to the game with a limit on how long you can hunt there.

The “tide” of this location moves between low, mid and high tide. Riptide mice can be found in mid tide and are prevalent in high tide. Catching one washes a hunter out of the Cove and into the Jungle of Dread.

Despite that, Balack’s Cove is a very tempting place to hunt, the points available in this location are greater than any other location introduced before it.

Three of the most powerful mice in this location drop loot that can be used to craft a potent type of cheese that attracts more of the powerful mice in the location as well as the most powerful mouse, Balack the Banished.

There are three choices of power type that can be used to hunt in the Balack’s Cove, each of the three suits a different style of play or goal.

Requirements

To hunt in the Balack’s Cove a Hunter must have:
    A Hunter’s Title of at least .
    Have crafted the Balack’s Lantern.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    An Arcane, Forgotten or Shadow Weapon.
    Vanilla Stilton or Vengeful Vanilla Stilton cheese.

I’m jolly glad to be out of Dracano, fearless MouseHunter, but this place isn’t much better… I can hear whispering all around, and I don’t think it’s the sound of the waves.

This will be a difficult fight, even for an experienced MouseHunter, but I believe in you! Get in there and lift that curse!

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Catching Liches

The three lich mice drop loot which is required to make Vengeful Vanilla Stilton cheese.

The liches can be attracted using Vanilla Stilton (occassionally), or with Vengeful Vanilla Stilton (more commonly).

Hunters wishing to catch these three mice will find the task easiest when using the Ancient Box Trap, although the A.C.R.o.N.Y.M. will work well.

Unfortunately, due to the random nature of the game, many players will soon find themselves with unbalanced numbers of the three mice.
There is not much that can be done about this, except to keep hunting.

Catch Balack

To catch Balack the Banished, a hunter should arm Vengeful Vanilla Stilton and the Ancient Box Trap.

Having a good supply of Vengeful Vanilla Stilton will help in this goal as you are likely to miss most of the Balack the Banished mice you encounter.

Which trap to use

There are three different types of trap that work in Balack’s Cove, and they suit three different styles of play:

Passive Hunters – Shadow Traps
If you are the type of hunter who does not get to spend long playing the game, or is about to go offline for a while, a Shadow Weapon might be a good choice for you.

Shadow traps are very good against the weakest and most common of the mice in Balack’s Cove.

Shadow traps are quite weak against the strongest mice in Balack’s Cove.

When the tide moves hunters to the Jungle of Dread, a Shadow trap will continue to catch mice, an ideal choice if you don’t know if you will be able to access the game again before the tide.

Points Hunters – Arcane Traps
If you are the type of hunter who is interested in obtaining the most points or wishes to increase their title quickly, an Arcane Weapon will be a good choice for you.

Arcane traps are reasonable against all the miCe in Balack’s Cove, allowing for the greatest points gains and title increase.

Arcane traps are useless against Pygmy Swarm mice in the Jungle of Dread, so hunters using Arcane traps should be able to check the game regularly to avoid wasted hunts.

Loot Hunters – Forgotten Traps
If you are the type of hunter who is interested in collecting the loot to make Vengeful Vanilla Stilton as quickly as possible, a Forgotten Weapon will be a good choice for you.

Forgotten traps are the best against the three Lich mice in Balack’s Cove, granting the best opportunity to gain the loot you desire.

Forgotten traps are weaker against the weakest mice in Balack’s Cove, meaning that you will miss the most common mice more often.

Forgotten traps are useless against Pygmy Swarm mice in the Jungle of Dread, so hunters using Forgotten traps should be able to check the game regularly to avoid wasted hunts.

Pick which of the three styles seems most appropriate for you, and arm a weapon of that type.
