Festive Comet
This celestial event of festive proportions has crashed into Gnawnia! Although the original origin of this cheer-spreading comet are unknown, hunters from across the Kingdom are calling its arrival cause for festive celebration!
Only available for a limited time, the Festive Comet has a number of special event mice that can really boost the number of bonus mice you have.
In this article we present you with some of the results from our survey, as well as some theories and strategies to help you hunt in this location.

SUPER|brie+ is clearly the better cheese for hunting the special event mice in this area, with all but one of them having a higher population when using it, the only exception is the Ornament mouse, which is currently showing a similar population.
Results for Brie and Swiss show a lower population of special event mice, but do not attract the stonger mice, which could make them a good choice for newer players.
General Strategies
Most of the mice in the Festive Comet are quite weak, especially the Special Event mice which are the main reason for being here, so most traps will work well in the location.
Physical Weapons rely only on luck against the Gargoyle mouse, but are of normal effectiveness against all other mice.
Shadow Weapons rely only on luck against the Centaur, Dwarf, Hydra and Worker mice, but are of normal effectiveness against all other mice.
Tactical Weapons are very effective against the Centaur, Dwarf and Worker mice, less effective against the Hydra mouse, rely only on luck against the Gargoyle mouse, and are of normal effectiveness against all other mice.
Arcane Weapons rely only on luck against the Centaur, Dwarf, Hydra and Worker mice, are very effective against the Gargoyle mouse and are of normal effectiveness against all other mice.
Hydro Weapons are very effective against the Hydra mouse, rely only on luck against the Gargoyle mouse, and are of normal effectiveness against all other mice.
Forgotten Weapons rely only on luck against all mice except the Gargoyle, against which they are of normal effectiveness, so are not advised.
Draconic Weapons rely only on luck against all mice in this location, so are not advised.
Goals
Catch a Scrooge Mouse
Lots of people are asking about the Scrooge mouse, the important thing to remember is that it’s not a difficult mouse to catch (being of similar power to a Pirate), but it is difficult to encounter.
From the results we have above, the best way to encounter the Scrooge is to use SUPER|brie+, the Scrooge still isn’t common even with this cheese, but you do increase your chances of seeing it, and with the high base attraction rate of SUPER|brie+, you don’t need to worry about using a base with high attraction bonuses or cheese freshness.
Catch a Worker Mouse with the Blueprints
The Worker mouse isn’t a difficult mouse to catch, although a Tactical trap should give you an advantage in catching it, but once again, it is a difficult mouse to encounter.
Currently we’re seeing the Worker has a preference for SUPER|brie+, which is no surprise considering we see the same thing in Furoma, so using that cheese is definately advised, but it’s unknown at the moment if more Workers will be released to keep up with demand for the blueprints.
Numerous Hunters are reporting that they are catching Workers that are not dropping the Blueprints, unfortunately we do not have enough information to do an analysis yet, but it is recommended that Hunters use a trap with high luck to increase the chances of the loot dropping.
Catch an Ornament Mouse with the Blueprints
The Ornament mouse is only slightly more powerful than the Worker mouse, so is easy to catch, however there are no trap power types that are more effective against this mouse, yet once again, it is a difficult mouse to encounter.
The Ornament mouse is proving to go against the trend we’ve seen from all the other special event mice in our survey, in that it doesn’t appear to have a preference for SUPER|brie+, all cheese are currently showing a similar population of Ornament mice. Previous results did show a slight preference for Brie cheese, but this no longer appears to be the case.
Catch a Christmas Tree Mouse with the Blueprints
Christmas Tree mice are also dropping the Blueprints, for both the Gingerbread Base and the Gingerbread House.
The Christmas Tree is a weak mouse, which can be caught with almost any trap, but has a definate preference for SUPER|brie+.
Catching the mice with the 12 days ’till Christmas loot
Each day until 24th Decemeber mice will start dropping a new loot as part of the 12 days ’till Christmas event, these mice are most likely to drop the loot on the day of release, but it is still possible to get the loot after the day of release, so far all of the mice have been weak mice, so are easy to catch with nearly all traps.
From what we have seen, the normal mouse that drops the loot is less likely to drop, while the special event mouse that drops the loot is quite likely to dop, hunters therefore have the choice between using a regular cheese such as Brie in the hopes of catching enough of the normal mice to have one drop, or to use a cheese such as SUPER|brie+ in the hopes of catching the special event mouse that drops.

I recommend getting the trap with the best attraction bonus being that Gingerbread seems to have the same attraction rate as like.. swiss. I’m using Force field with wooden base with target being that I don’t care about anything but the special mice

Given the low base attraction of Gingerbread, a high attraction setup would be worthwhile, and most of the special event mice are weak, so the reduction in power isn’t going to be a real problem.

Which is better for catching scrooge, Acronym or Ambush?
I think Gnarled Cheese also works.
I used partybot/magma/gingerbread and I caught all the mice except the Christmas tree and Scrooge. I switched to SB and I had 1 of each with 24 hours.
I hope that helps others. I also used the partybot/aqua and the partybot/dehy with gingerbread cheese and had the same results…no christmas tree, no scrooge, but caught all the other mice.

From the results we have so far, the best bet for attracting a Gargolye in the Festive Commet appears to be Gingerbread, we have no results on Ancient so I can’t comment on that one.

The Ornament mouse just appears to be rare no matter which cheese you use, so far our results show a very slight advantage to using Gingerbread for it though.

I believe that the Acronym would give you a better chance of catching the Scrooge itself, but the side effect would be reduced power against the Tactical and Hydro mice in the location, but a better chance of catching those Gargoyles.
i saw elf mouse added to the mice list… and 170k catch in total… i haven’t go to the festive again… anyone know what this mouse preference? SB+ or gingerbread is enough?

the new bps have just been released again, it’s Ginger Base BP dropped by Ornament mice.
Any recommendations for the Ornament? What would be the best cheese + trap + base? Or will any do since it is pure luck?

I was successful in my hunt! I caught a 5 oz. Worker mouse from the Festive Comet worth 296 points and 2,205 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:

If you go to your Hunter’s Camp you’ll see the “Hunter’s Journal”, copy the entries from there (only the ones using Brie please) and paste them here: http://furoma.com/mousehunt_log_summarizer.php
You can copy up to 10 pages worth of information from the Hunter’s Journal, and then paste them one after the other into the log summariser.
Once you’ve pasted all the entries you wish to include, press the “Fling the Poo” button, this will give you your summary. Scroll down until you see the section called “DATA COLLECTION!”, fill in the drop down boxes with the set up you’ve been using, and then press the “Submit” button.

YES! i just started 2 use SB+ and on my second hunt i caught a worker mouse that dropped blueprints, but im still having trouble catching the ornament mouse i heard using brie rather than gingerbread cheese or SB+ is more effective in catching the ornament moue, is this true?

I submitted 37 brie hunts. No sign of Ornament. So, switch back to GB for now…

As mentioned in the article, most of the mice here are not that powerful, so DDB / Magma should stand a very good chance of catching the Ornament mouse, however attracting the Ornament is the tricky part, Gingerbread will attract them, but it might take a while.

From what we’re seeing (and we only have limited information on this, so it may be wrong), the loot drop rates for the Blueprints are fairly low, even with a high luck trap you’re not guaranteed to get the loot, but every little bit of luck does increase your chances.

We actually need to see the individual entries, for example: “08:00 I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 2 oz. Steel mouse from the Festive Comet worth 269 points and 502 gold.”, this allows us to look at what you’ve caught, and what you’ve missed as well.
As to your question of the Scrooge, I highly recommend SB+ if you have some, my last 36 hour log had 6 Scrooges on it (yes, I do appreciate that is flukishly lucky).

Lots of people are asking questions about the trap setups to use, so here’s a rough guide to work this stuff out.
Decide which mouse you want to catch, then look at the table above, it will tell you which cheese the results are currently showing a preference for, if there’s a big difference in the numbers, that’s probably the cheese you want to use, if it’s not a big difference, either of those cheese will work.
Next look at the base attration, a high base attraction (like SB+) means you don’t need to worry about an attraction bonus, a lower attraction (like Brie), means it might be worth adding in some attraction.
After that, your only choice is the mix of luck and power, personally I’d go for max luck, because most of the high luck traps have sufficient power to catch these mice.

I can only do an analysis when we have sufficient hunts in otherwise it can be wildly inaccurate, when I do have enough hunts in for another cheese, I will add it to this article.

I have a few results for Marble so far (about 40 at last count), and there was one Ornament on there, however, due to the very small sample size, it’s just as likely to be a fluke result as it is a hint that Marble is good.

We’re always on the lookout for volunteers to submit more hunts, anything you feel like really, but keep an eye out for articles like this and see which cheese are missing from the analysis, those are generally the most useful.

Submitted 100 hunts with Gouda. I saw no reason to believe it’s different from Brie (other than 3x the expense).
You might consider adding the “12 Days ’til Christmas” loot as goals. Seen so far:

Sun. 13: Two Festive Mitts, Dwarf mice
@Confused – my understanding is that only mice in Festive Comet drop any of the items related to the christmas event. I wouldn’t believe that rumour you heard without confirmation.
What I’m wondering is that now that we’re after mice such as white for the droid and dwarf for the mitts, wouldn’t we better off using brie or even swiss? I don’t have either of the bp’s yet but I’m hoping to get them when they become more common as the comet melts…

all mice and got all loot there is so far, with relative ease )
Festive mitts are also being dropped by Present mice. So far it looks like each of the 12 items will be dropped by one festive mouse and one regular mouse.
I wonder if it is possible to have one of these items dropped more than once?

For some reason i caught my ornament mouse with FF/dehydration or explosive/swiss. i have caught 2 like this and have caught a 14oz. troll with this setup i think may of been GB. Swiss for me has done well

@missed i dun tink so. The developer said something about each layers melts after 24 hours a day and each of these layer has a certain loot.
@Missed: You still can get the “12 days ’til Christmas”-loot from the earlier days but they will become slightly rarer. (maybe with each day and loot that is released)

I don’t know how but I got two sets of both plans within a day of each other. One using a Hit and Grab Rockin’ Horse and a Dehydration Base! Then after making the Gingerbread House Surprise and Base I managed to catch both mice and got the plans again! Plus since I got the Gingerbread House Surprise I have caught two scrooges! Not able to catch the bigger stronger mice and they have been hitting my traps but they will come later I guess. Oh yeah and none of this even happened till I switched too use Super Brie only. Don’t know if that helps but figured I would let everyone know. I still don’t know what to do with the second set of plans? I can’t give them away or I would! Any Ideas?
Christmas Tree Mouse & ASM are dropping 3 hats.
Hi I’m just wondering how I could have better luck on getting the three hats from Abominable mouse in FC.
I’m currently using HGRH/Gingerbread Base/Gingerbread cheese. I seem to not be able to attract any Abominable mice in the past 4 hours.
A friend of mine is currently using Giant Speaker/Gingerbread Base/Gingerbread Cheese. She caught roughly 3 Abominable mice over the past 4 hours but she hasn’t gotten the three hats as a loot.
I’m wondering if anyone knows why this is happening. Could it be a problem of the weapon/base used? Or maybe a problem with luck?
I’m not quite sure and I hope I’ll be able to get the loot before the day ends :D

there seems to be alot of advice about getting ornament mice but not on worker.
he seems to be a weak mouse,but still rare.

got 3 workers within 1 hunting log. just used super brie+. just leave it to LUCK.
Have caught 20 Christmas Tree and 2 Ornament Mice but none have dropped the GB base blueprints.

As an example of that, say a cheese like GB has a 75% base attraction, the attraction bonus of the trap would kick in 25% of the time, so if we say that’s a 20% attraction bonus, you’d end up with a total attraction of 80% (75% + 25%*20%).
For a cheese like SB+ with 99% attraction, the same trap would give you a 99.2% total attraction (98% + 2%*20%).
As a result, a good attraction bonus can make a visible difference on a weak cheese, but doesn’t really have much of an effect on the better cheese.

I wouldn’t recommend using the Wooden Base with Target while using SB+, the attraction bonus won’t do you much good, so switch to something with more power / luck (if you have it), you should still see a good number of the mice you’re after, but have more luck catching them.

From what we’ve seen the “normal” mice don’t drop as often as the special event mice, but as you’re using SB+ you should be alright in attracting the Present mice too.

I am in the same position as you. I have all Xmas loot except for the 4 stockings from the Stocking Mouse. As a Journeyman my best trap setup is Swiss Army/Exp baited with SB. If I can just get a lucky drop from a Stocking Mouse I’ll be back on track. My worry is if they throw something like a Scrooge/Hydra loot drop on the 12th day. I’m screwed then. I hope they let us little guys play along even if I wouldn’t dare craft whatever it is until way in the future. Wouldn’t mind a worker dropping house plans so I can craft it when I reach GM; already have the GB base prints.
im using ambush/aqua/SB and have hunted for a long time but no present adn my SB is runnnig out… any advice???

Trade it in. The item is great and I am fairly certain that the only item that has any future use is the egg nog, which you are able to keep because it only requires a little. The egg nog will be used by June.

My question is when are the new traps (Christmas Cracker Trap, ChillBot, Snowglobe Trap, 2010 Blastoff) be put in the Catch Rates Estimates?
I rather ask myself whether to get the CCT or the CDB?
Is it worth to spend 900k for +900 power and +2 luck which are the advantages of CDB over CCT? 110 SB+ for the 12 loots is lousy compared to what I invested to get the 12. I am puzzled…

Yeah I hope they enter the info–not sure if they need data or they calculate it theoretically. For now I am using the Xcracker with candy cane base, and I am estimating the expectations by entering PartyBot and Polar or Magma as the closest analog.
Th Xcracker is I think slightly better than PartyBot, therefore, you can use this to great profit in the Moz–no Portal needed :-)

Do you guys have enough submissions yet to provide info on the three latest mice? A separate table of relative populations of just those three for Brie/GB/SB+ would at least give us an idea of rarity and cheese preferences, no need to redo the previous table.
(Someone updated the wiki to show the Toy mouse with a preference for GB/SB+, but I don’t know the source and find it highly questionable.)

up there, it says you can get it from gargoyle, christmas tree, scrooge, and toy. Personally, I got mine from a toy. I don’t know any quick way to attract a toy but it seems to be attracted to gingerbread
