Forbidden Grove

Forbidden Grove

At the end of the Catacombs, beyond heavy stone gates, lies a hidden hunting ground. Etched into the gates is a warning: “Beware young soul, should the stone gates close while within this grove, you will find yourself caught between realms.”

Overview

The Forbidden Grove was the first time restricted location in the game. Hunters can’t always travel here even if they have the map.

The Grove opens and closes on a regular basis. When it is open hunters can travel to and from here and start hunting with Ancient Cheese for mice that drop Runes as loot. While it is closed any hunter still here will only be able to attract Realm Ripper mice, and upon catching one will be transported to the Acolyte Realm and unable to re-enter the Grove until it opens again.

Requirements

To hunt in the Forbidden Grove a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least Legendary.
The Keeper’s Candle from a Keeper Mouse in the Catacombs.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    An Arcane Weapon.
    Ancient Cheese.

Hunting Tips by Larry

Only the most capable MouseHunters make it to the Forbidden Grove! I’m impressed.

This area may look like a garden, but it is actually a giant trap designed to catch the powerful Acolyte mouse! Every few hours the massive stone gates close, sealing this area off from the Catacombs. When the gates close, a thick fog fills the grove and anyone still inside is transported into the Acolyte Realm upon capturing a Realm Ripper Mouse.

The mice here are weak to Arcane traps and are highly attracted to Ancient Cheese. To make Ancient Cheese, combine three Stale cheese with six Ionized Salt. You can also add three Magic Essence to the same recipe to double the amount of cheese produced.

The mice within this grove are trying reverse the effects of the portal to keep a two-way gate open at all times. Should they accomplish this goal, armies of mice will soon invade Gnawnia at the command of the evil Acolyte!

Be on the look out for magical runes dropped by the mice here. Runes are used to craft Runic cheese, which is the only cheese capable of attracting an Acolyte.

Remember that when the gates close, Realm Ripper mice will be in the grove. If you capture a Realm Ripper, you will be transported to the Acolyte Realm. Keep this fact in mind before leaving your trap for long periods of time.

New Mice

There are 7 new mice in the Forbidden Grove that a hunter won’t have encountered before, most of these mice can be found in other locations.

Gargoyle

Gate Guardian

Gorgon

Realm Ripper

Mice Populations

We currently do not have enough results for Mice Populations.

Ancient cheese is the best cheese to use in this location as it attracts more of the mice with Runes as loot.

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Collect Runes

The main purpose of the Forbidden Grove is to collect Runes.

A number of the Forgotten mice in this location drop Runes, and all are best attracted with Ancient cheese.

A strong Arcane trap will help with collecting runes, and hunters may wish to wait until they have crafted the Arcane Capturing Rod of Never Yielding Mystery before hunting in the Forbidden Grove.

Using the Runic Base

If you were lucky enough to pick up the Runic Base then you’ve got a serious advantage for collecting runes. Arming this base increases the probability of Runes being dropped, as well as increasing the number dropped.

But most importantly, this base actually glows when you use it in Bristle Woods. It’s worth arming for that fact alone!
