Great Gnarled Tree
At the edge of Whisker Woods lies a tree older than Gnawnia itself. Its magic roots stretch far underground and deep into the woods, giving life to the other trees. The shadow it casts is so massive that it began to affect the surrounding area through time, blocking necessary light from other trees. As a result, the other trees seem almost alive as they bend back and forth, seeking out the light.
Overview
The Great Gnarled Tree is filled with a mixture of Physical and Tactical mice.
The Trapsmith in this location offers the first Tactical trap a hunter can buy, making it easier to hunt here.
Mice in the Great Gnarled Tree also drop Gnarled Cheese Curd Potions, that can be used to imbue Gnarled Cheese.
Gnarled cheese can either be used in the Lagoon, or here in the Great Gnarled Tree.
Hunters should consider carefully if they wish to use Gnarled in this location, it is recommended they only do so if they have a decent tactical trap. Many of the mice attracted with Gnarled are the stronger mice found in this location. Using Gnarled also has the added benefit of attracting the Curious Chemist Mouse, which drops the Wicked Gnarly Potion, a potent cheese for use in the Lagoon.
The Fairy Mouse, a strong tactical mouse, drops the map to the Lagoon.
If a Hunter wishes to purchase the Venus Mouse Trap in this location, it is recommended that they upgrade it to the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap as soon as possible.
Requirements
To hunt in the Great Gnarled Tree a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least
Master.
The Gnarled Tree Map Piece from a Cyclops Mouse in the Calm Clearing.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
A Tactical Weapon.
Swiss or Gnarled Cheese.
Hunting Tips by Larry
Welcome to the Great Gnarled Tree. Watch your step, it’s a long way down!
A Trapsmith has set up shop upon the highest branch of the tree and has a unique Tactical trap for sale. You’ll find this trap more effective against some of the mice that dwell in and around the Great Gnarled Tree.
The magic of the Great Gnarled Tree has led to the discovery of potions. These potions are used to create Gnarled cheese which is sure to come in handy as you move deeper into the woods.
Keep your eyes open for a magical Fairy mouse that may hold clues regarding what lies in the woods beyond the Great Gnarled Tree.
New Mice
There are 6 new mice to be found in this location, and one of them can only be found in this location.
The Fairy Mouse drops the map to the lagoon, and can be a difficult mouse to catch without a Tactical Trap.
The Curious Chemist mouse drops Wicked Gnarly Potions, and can only be attracted with Gnarled Cheese.
This may also be the first location in which a hunter encounters the Bat Mouse.

Shops
The Great Gnarled Tree contains three shops: a Cheese Shoppe, a Trapsmith and a General Store.

Cheese Shoppe |
The Cheese Shoppe of the Great Gnarled Tree offers a small selection of cheese, but at purchase prices that are 50% higher than can be found in Gnawnia.
It is unlikely that you will want to puchase cheese from this shop, as unless you only want to buy a few pieces of cheese, it is normally more cost effective to pay the traveling costs to and from Gnawnia.
Refund prices of cheese are the same price here as they are as elsewhere.

The Swiss Army Trap is available at a slightly lower price here than it is in Gnawnia.
The Venus Mouse Trap is the first Tactical weapon available to you, and it is worth the investment, as it can be upgraded via crafting. Tactical traps are highly useful in this region and other regions as well.

On your first visit to the Great Gnarled Tree you will want to use a purchased cheese.
The difference in attraction rate between Brie and Swiss isn’t that much, so Swiss seems to be a more economical choice in the Great Gnarled Tree.
Once you have collected some Gnarled Cheese Curd Potions, Gnarled can be a very good cheese to use – provided your trap is strong enough.
Gnarled Cheese not only attracts the Curious Chemist Mouse, it also attracts very few of the weakest mice.
Gnarled Cheese is only advised for those with a good Tactical Trap.
Setup Options
We currently do not have enough results for Setup Options.
Goals
Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:
Catch a Fairy Mouse with the Map
The Fairy mouse drops the map to the Lagoon, fortunately this mouse is not too rare.
Arming a Tactical trap will definitely help you with this goal.
If you are struggling to attract this Mouse, using Gnarled Cheese may help.
Collect Gnarled Potions
The Gnarled Cheese Curd Potions are dropped by four mice in the Great Gnarled Tree:
The Bear, the Centaur, the Chameleon and the Frog.
Only the Centaur Mouse drops the potion regularly. Maximising the luck of your trap will help encourage the other mice to drop more frequently.
It is recommended that you use a Tactical trap when hunting for these potions. More Centaur catches will definitely help you.
Collect Wicked Gnarly Potions
Only the Curious Chemist drops this potion, and it is only attracted to Gnarled Cheese.
The Curious Chemist is quite a common mouse, it will be about one in ten of the mice you see.
Arming a Tactical Trap won’t help with the Curious Chemist, but it will help with the stronger Tactical mice you attract at the same time.

As of Longtail update, Treants allways drop splintered wood.
reconfirmed Martin’s info. Treants in GGT now drop Splintered.
also. There is an error in:
The difference in attraction rate between Brie and Swiss isn’t that much, so Swiss seems to be a more economical choice in the *Calm Clearing*.
After copy pasting from Calm Clearing, it appears the text was not modified. From *Calm Clearing* to ** Great Gnarled Tree **
Since the longtail patch, there are no gnarled cheese potion loots with the use of gnarled cheese here. I am not sure if this is true for all but, I had been hunting for the past week and there was not a single gnarled cheese potion.
7:00 pm – Great Gnarled Tree
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 9 oz. Centaur Mouse worth 3,800 points and 960 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
3 Gnarled Potions
caught with Ambush/Candy cane Base/Gnarled

10:00 am – Great Gnarled Tree
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 11 oz. Centaur Mouse worth 3,800 points and 960 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
2 Gnarled Potions
Using Gnarled
ive upgraded me VMT to a MVMT then i smashed it do u know how to get my VMT back to normal? p.s ive got a ambush trap. WAY better then VMT and MVMT.
You should be able to craft the husk on its own to make the VMT again.
Or you could keep the husk and wait until you can maked the Thorned VMT (better than Ambush).
2:15 pm – Great Gnarled Tree
I sounded the Hunter’s Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 1 oz. Shaman Mouse worth 600 points and 1,300 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
4 Splintered Wood
Using Gnarled cheese with acronym/ccb/no-charm/lgs
Hey why is difficult to get gnarled potion?
Because Developers Hates Us!
swiss can get fairy also haha
The breakdown doesn’t use “Wicked Gnarly Potion”. Instead, it incorrectly states “Gnarly Potion”. The image is correct though.
