Meadow

Meadow

Slightly secluded from the human population, the Meadow is mostly inhabited by the more timid breeds of mice. Considered somewhat of a safe haven for novice mouse hunters who hate to see their cheese stolen.

Overview

The Meadow is the starting location for new hunters. It is filled with weak mice that are easy for all hunters to catch and it shouldn’t take long for a Novice hunter to earn enough points and gold to upgrade to the more powerful traps required for later locations.

Requirements

To hunt in the Meadow a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least Novice.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    Any Weapon and Base.
    Any Cheese.

Hunting Tips by Larry

Welcome to the Meadow! This calm retreat is a favorite relaxation spot of Gnawnia’s busy citizens. The majority of the mice that are found here are fairly tame and easy to catch, making it a great place to hunt while you save up for a better trap.

The Meadow has two shops. The first is the Cheese Shoppe where you can buy bait for your trap, and the second is the Trapsmith, where you can buy new trap parts.

When you reach the title of Recruit, try hunting in the Town of Gnawnia, where more breeds of mice await!. Visit the Travel page to access your map and travel to other hunting grounds.

Looking for more advice? Speak with your fellow hunters on the discussion boards. There are sure to be many experienced hunters willing to lend a hand!

Good luck, brave MouseHunter!

New Mice

As the Meadow is the first location encountered in the game, all of the mice found here are new mice. All of these mice can be encountered in other locations in the game.

The Meadow is a good place to use a weaker cheese and make a reasonable profit: it’s not cost effective to use Brie cheese, and it only offers slightly better attraction rates than more affordable cheese. White Cheddar has a special use in the Meadow given that it drives away the Brown, Grey and White mice, allowing a hunter to attract more profitable mice, and some of the rarer mice in the location as well.

Remember, it’s normally a good idea to use the Wooden Base with Target with the weaker cheese. The lower the base attraction of the cheese, the more effect a high attraction bonus will have. Using the Wooden Base with Target and White Cheddar should give significantly better results than those shown above.

A number of the mice in this location favour the use of Super Brie over any other cheese. Hunters wishing to attract these mice are recommended to arm this cheese.

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Upgrade your Trap

The first goal on your check list is to upgrade your trap. Larry’s tutorial should guide you through this process without any problems.
Your first upgrade should be the Wooden Base with Target. This gives you more power and a nice attraction bonus that works well with the weaker cheese used in the Meadow.

Purchase 30 pieces of cheese

The second goal on your check list is to purchase 30 pieces of cheese. Again, Larry’s tutorial should guide you through this process without any problems.
You’ve been given some Marble cheese to start off with, so you might be tempted to buy some more of that. Instead, why not try some cheddar cheese?
At 10 gold per piece it’s a very cost effective cheese, when combined with the Wooden Base with Target you can get a good attraction rate and still catch most of the mice you attract.
Using Cheddar rather than Marble during your training will allow you to upgrade to the next trap a little sooner.

Catch 6 Breeds of Mice

One of your training tasks is to catch 6 different breeds of mice.
You’ll catch three breeds during the introduction hunt for the Dwarf Mouse, only leaving you three more to collect.
Given the variety of mice in the Meadow this goal should easily be completed by the you’ve finished your other training goals.

Visit the forums

The forums are a great source of information and the latest news in the game. MouseHunt is a social game and the forums are meant to be a fun place where you can get advice, chat with other players and make some new friends.
Because so many people use the forums things can be quite hectic at times, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to read the rules before you start posting.
There are many different boards on the forums. To start with you should visit the Newcomers Lounge as this is the ideal place to ask some questions when you’re starting out. You might even find some more experienced players there who are willing to “adopt” you. If someone does, they’ll provide advice and assistance for you through the game.
If you’re looking for a quicker response to some questions you have, you can visit the Chat Room. Normally there’s a few people on there who can help answer some quick questions.
A few key things to remember when using the forums or the chat room:
Be polite – People will be more willing to help you if you’re polite.
Don’t beg for gold – People can provide advice to help you earn gold, but no one likes new players begging for gold (or cheese).
Take a moment to read the rules (terms of service) – Make sure you know what’s acceptable before posting and you should avoid trouble.
Read other threads before posting yours – You may find the questions you have are answered there.
Finally, and very importantly, you should remember that any bad behaviour on the forums or chat room can be punished with a suspension or ban from the game.

Take 25 hunts

You can hunt by sounding the horn (during your training you can sound the horn more often) but you also automatically go on a hunt every hour as long as you’ve been active in the past 24 hours.
You can play the game passively and check back once a day when you have time. Or you can play actively and sound the horn when you’re online.
Either way your 25 hunts won’t take more than a day to complete, maybe a few hours if you’re active.

Reach the rank of Recruit

Your final goal is to reach the rank of Recruit. As your rank increases you’ll be able to travel to new locations and purchase other types of cheese and trap to catch even more different breeds of mice.
By the time you’ve completed your 25 hunts you should have reached the rank of Recruit, or at least be very close to it.
Like many other aspects of this game, increasing your rank is just a matter of patience. Keep hunting and eventually you’ll get there.

  1. Hey, I found an error. You can’t actually buy the Tacky Glue Trap or High-tension spring in the Meadow. You can only buy the 500 pound spiked crusher, mouse trebuchet and the mouse deathbot. Other than that, it is very good!
