Mountain
This treacherous environment only allows the toughest of mice to survive. Be warned: the Mountain is no place for the novice mouse hunter!
Overview
The Mountain is a location that contains some of the stronger mice found in Gnawnia, offering good potential rewards for a hunter. Although the Harbour offers better gold returns, the Mountain offers better points, allowing a hunter to increase their rank sooner.
In the Mountain are four mice not found elsewhere: the Abominable Snow, Frosty Snow, Frozen and Pebble mice are all rare mice, and require patience or specialist cheese for the hunter to catch.
The Ninja Mouse in the Mountain drops the map to the Laboratory in the Burroughs region.
Requirements
To hunt in the Mountain a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least
Journeyman.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
At least the Mouse Rocketine or Trebuchet and Wooden Base with Target, but preferably a stronger Weapon and/or Base.
At least Marble Cheese.
Hunting Tips by Larry
Welcome to the treacherous terrain of… The Mountain!
Hunting in the Mountain can be quite profitable. The Gold and Diamond mice found here are worth a handsome amount of gold and points! Extra income means that you may now be able to afford more expensive flavours of cheese and more powerful traps! If you’re having problems attracting or catching mice, try heading back to town to buy new cheese or trap parts.
There have been reports of a mysterious Ninja mouse that has traveled to the Mountain from the North and is carrying a piece of the map. Should you find this rare Ninja and acquire the map piece, it will be added to your own map, unlocking a new hunting location in the north!
New Mice
The Mountain has 5 new mice that you won’t have encountered before. Four of these mice are only encountered in this location or during special events. The Ninja mouse can be found in other locations.

Both Brie and Swiss are good cheese to use in this location, Brie will earn you more points, while Swiss is more cost effective.
Super Brie may be required to attract all of the mice in this location.
Setup Options
We currently do not have enough results for Setup Options.
Goals
Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:
Catch a Ninja Mouse with the Map
The Ninja mouse drops the map to the Burroughs Laboratory, and fortunately the mouse is neither very rare nor very difficult to catch as long as you have at least the recommended traps. There’s no known preference for any cheese with the Ninja mouse, so it’s just a case of patiently waiting until you catch one.
Best Location for a Journeyman to Hunt
Often it is debated whether a Journeyman should hunt in the Mountain or the Calm Clearing while they are trying to increase their rank.
Personally I believe the best path through Journeyman is to hunt in the Mountain until your goals are completed there, then move to the Calm Clearing.
The Calm Clearing has slightly more to offer in terms of Points, Gold and Loot, so is probably the best use of a Journeyman’s time.
Collecting Simple Orbs
The Mountain probably offers the best place for a hunter to collect simple orbs. With a high number of Gold and Diamond mice compared to other locations a hunter stands a good chance of collecting simple orbs here.
There are two ways a hunter can further increase their chances of collecting orbs, the first is to use Super Brie. This attracts the Silvertail mouse which also drops the orb.
The second is to arm the prospector’s charm. It’s expensive and the power boost will be wasted on many hunters revisiting this area, but it does increase the population of Gold, Diamond and Silvertail mice in the mountain, helping you to collect even more orbs.
Charms to use
The Prospector’s Charm can be a useful addition for any hunter wishing to collect Simple Orbs in this location..
