Seasonal Garden
Zugzwang’s seasonal garden is the perfect destination for those who can’t make up their mind about the weather. Every few days, the seasons shift, bringing with them a new crop of mice with different powers. Keep an eye out for the shards of an old key- they might provide the way into that mysterious locked tower.
Overview
The Seasonal Garden is the gateway location into Zugzwang’s Tower. Not only do you need to hunt here to collect the four key shards to gain access to the tower, but you also need to “charge” your trap for the trip to the tower.
A new mechanic to this location called the Tower Amplifier means that each catch in the Seasonal Garden will increase your chances of catching in Zugzwang’s Tower.
Hunting in Zugzwang’s Tower will reduce your Amplifier by a small amount, and leaving the tower will reset it to zero. You’ll need to visit the Seasonal Garden before each trip to Zugzwang’s Tower.
The seasonal garden rotates through four different seasons, each season contains different mice and they have specific weaknesses to trap power types.
Tactical traps offer a good compromise for those hunter who don’t want to worry about changing their setups too often, but using the right power type for the right season will yield the best results.
The best power types are:
Physical in Spring
Tactical in Summer
Shadow in Fall
Hydro in Winter
Requirements
To hunt in the Seasonal Garden a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least
Lord or
Lady.
Zugzwang’s Velvet-lined Scarf, obtained from the Dragon’s Chest which is dropped as loot in Dracano.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
Good Tactical, Hydro, Physical and Shadow weapons.
At least Brie Cheese.
Hunting Tips by Larry
Welcome to the Seasonal Garden, MouseHunter!
I hope you brought a change of clothes with you, because the seasons around here shift every few days, bringing new weather, and new mice to trap.
If you’re looking for a good general strategy, a tactical trap will perform well in any season. Most seasons also have another, secret weakness for Hunters to discover on their own, so experiment with different trap setups, and see what works. Be sure to keep an eye out for shards of the key to Zugzwang’s Tower, as well- there’s one shard hidden in every season.
As you catch mice in the garden, your Tower Amplifier will increase. Failing to attract mice in the garden will cause your Tower Amplifier to decrease.
When your amplifier is charged, it gives a power bonus to your trap when hunting in Zugzwang’s Tower. When hunting in the tower your Tower Amplifier’s charge will decrease until it runs out or you leave the tower. Make sure to get a full charge before going in, because if you leave the tower, your amplifier will reset to zero.
New Mice
The Seasonal Garden has 24 new mice that you won’t have encountered before, all of which are only encountered in this location.

Shops
The Seasonal Garden contains three shops: a Cheese Shoppe, a Trapsmith and a General Store.
![]() |
Cheese Shoppe |
The Cheese Shoppe of the Season Garden sells a small selection of cheese, but at increased prices to those that can be found elsewhere.
![]() |
Swiss Cheese Swiss offers a good chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 200 gold Refund: 100 gold |
![]() |
Brie Cheese Brie offers a very good chance of attracting a variety of mice. Cost: 400 gold Refund: 200 gold |

Gouda Cheese Gouda arrives in crates that float into the Harbour, seemingly from areas off the eastern coast of Gnawnia. It has a very good chance to attract a variety of mice, and its sharp flavour is a special favourite of the mice who inhabit the islands from where it is assumed to originate. Cost: 650 gold Refund: 600 gold |
![]() |
Trapsmith |
The Trapsmith of the Seasonal Garden sells two bases and three weapons. One weapon is Zugzwang’s Last Move, which can be combined with the blueprints sold in the General Store here to craft a more powerful Tactical trap. The other two weapons are particularly useful in Zugzwang’s Tower.
Weapons

Zugzwang’s Last Move (2,200 Tactical Power) Power Type: Tactical Power Bonus: 15% Attraction Bonus: none Luck: 7 Cheese Effect: Fresh Throughout the years Wizard Zugzwang’s creations have been spread across the Gnawnia Kingdom, being traded between experienced hunters and trapsmith. Zugzwang enchanted the pieces of his chess set to create a trap weapon capable of combating the clever mice in his tower. The pieces of this weapon come to life when a mouse approaches the trap’s bait, the battle that follows is quick and decisive. Cost: 415,000 gold Refund: 74,700 gold Points Required: 705,000 |

Mystic Pawn Pincher (60 Tactical Power) Power Type: Tactical Power Bonus: 5% Attraction Bonus: 20% Luck: none Cheese Effect: Fresh When Mystic Pawns see the glowing energies from this trap, they flock to it, hoping to top up their reserve. The Hunter must then whisper the forbidden words which direct the crane arm, positioning it over the hapless pawn before the allotted time passes. If the spell is said correctly, the runic claw drops down and nabs the Mystic Pawn. Technic Pawn armor is too slippery for the Arcane Crane, making them fall out of the claw before it gets a good grip. Cost: 643,750 gold Refund: 77,250 gold Points Required: 28,800,000 |

Technic Pawn Pincher (60 Tactical Power) Power Type: Tactical Power Bonus: 5% Attraction Bonus: 20% Luck: none Cheese Effect: Stale With all of the gizmos, gadgets and mechanical gewgaws placed on the field by the Technic Team, one more coal engine isn’t going to arouse much notice. In fact, this trap fits in so seamlessly with the Technic defensive line that Technic Pawns try to check it for repairs on a regular basis. When they do, the claw picks them up, and either flings them away, or drops them in the engine for three free hours of running time. Efficiency at its best! Cost: 643,750 gold Refund: 77,250 gold Points Required: 28,800,000 |
Bases

Aqua Base (230 Power) Power Bonus: none Attraction Bonus: none Luck: 8 Cheese Effect: No Effect The clear blue water often causes mice to become distracted by their own reflection making an easier target for a trap. Cost: 124,900 gold Refund: 22,482 gold Points Required: 1,140,000 |

Tribal Base (175 Power) Power Bonus: 18% Attraction Bonus: 2% Luck: none Cheese Effect: Fresh The three rival mouse tribes of Elub, Nerg and Derr very seldom come together, but when they finally get around to negotiations after their latest skirmish, they meet on this elaborately carved tribal mask. Only the eldest of the mice from all three tribes are allowed to work on constructing the meeting place, which is hallowed by the tribes-mice due to its origins in the Jungle of Dread. How frustrating for these master crafts-rodents that the trapsmiths co-opt their art for traps! Cost: 499,600 gold Refund: 88,928 gold Points Required: 14,000,000 |

Spellbook Base Blueprints These blueprints describe how to turn the Chess Master’s spell book into a functional base for your trap, but right now, it’s got a long way to go. The Master Binding will need some more pages to fill it out before a trap will hold steady, and that aging leather might need some precious metals to protect it from the elements. Most cheese can be used in the Seasonal Garden, however a hunter should seriously consider the attraction rate of their cheese.
In the Season Garden the Tower Amplifier only drops when a hunter fails to attract a mouse, so a cheese with a high attraction will not only increase the number of potential catches, but also protect against reductions of the amplifier.

Goals
Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:
Catching a Vinetail with the Spring Key Shard
Hunting in the Spring season is best achieved with a physical trap, but you can also hunt with a tactical trap.
The Vinetail is a rare mouse, but it does fortunately appear to drop the key shard when you first catch it.
Catching a Summer Mage with the Summer Key Shard
Hunting in the Summer season offers the simplest choice of setup, your best tactical trap is the only way to hunt.
The Summer Mage is a rare mouse, but it does fortunately appear to drop the key shard when you first catch it.
Catching a Harvester with the Fall Key Shard
Hunting in the Fall season is best achieved with a shadow trap, but you can also hunt with a tactical trap.
The Harvester is a rare mouse, but it does fortunately appear to drop the key shard when you first catch it.
Catching a Winter Mage with the Winter Key Shard
Hunting in the Winter season is best achieved with a hydro trap, but you can also hunt with a tactical trap.
The Winter Mage is a rare mouse, but it does fortunately appear to drop the key shard when you first catch it.
Increasing Tower Amplifier
To quickly increase your Tower Amplifier the Spring and Summer seasons are the easiest to hunt in.
Each catch will increase your Amplifier, while each fail to attract will reduce it. The more points you earn from catching a mouse, the more your Amplifier will increase.
Tactical traps can be used in any season, are are especially useful if you’re going to be away from the game during a season change.
While hunting in seasons other than Summer, you will increase your Amplifier more by arming the other effective trap type.
Whichever Season you chose to hunt in, remember to keep track of when the seasons change. Having the wrong type of trap armed when the season changes will result in missed mice and a lack of Amplifier increase.
You can leave the Seasonal Garden at any point and return with your Amplifier intact, until you travel to Zugzwang’s Tower – on leaving the tower the Amplifier will reset to zero.

Thank you to all who have contributed so far and will do so in the future.
This article contains information that was accurate up to MouseHunt v3.1.0.4.

I’m currently hunting in the Winter Garden with ASG/Tribal/Gouda/LGS. When I have a reasonable number of hunts, I’d like to submit my results. What is the most convenient way to do this for you guys? The log summarizer tool doesn’t seem to be working.
If the log summariser isn’t working, try this link: http://furoma.com/log_summarizer_test.php
It should work for you.
Unfortunately our database is not yet ready to accept submissions.
Excellent, that summarizer worked. I submitted a 55 hunt log (I had to list the location as the acolyte realm). Let us know if typing up our preliminary results will be useful.
Actually, here, for those who are interested.
Lady/ASG/Tribal/Gouda/LGS
Number of hunts = 55
Total attractions = 46
→Attraction rate = 83.64% (±10.69% C.I.)
Total catches = 32
→Catch rate per attraction = 69.57% (±14.38% C.I.)
Failed to attract
9 (16.36%)
Went stale
5 (8.93%)
Did attract but failed to catch
14 (25.45%)
And in there is one Winter’s Mage who dropped the key. Huzzah!
And here’s what I got in before it switched to Spring.
Lady/ASG/Magma/Gouda/LGS
Number of hunts = 43
Cheese used = 46
Total attractions = 33
→Attraction rate = 76.74% (±13.79% C.I.)
Total catches = 23
→Catch rate per attraction = 69.70% (±17.20% C.I.)
Failed to attract 10 (23.26%)
Went stale 7 (15.22%)
Did attract but failed to catch 10 (23.26%)
What is LGS?im a grandmaster
lucky golden shield
I’m impressed by how quickly you put this together!
One correction I spotted:
“The Trapsmith of the Seasonal Garden sells two bases and a new trap, Zugzwang’s Last Move…”
ZLM is not new! It’s been available at Furoma for some time, but no one buys it nowadays since the VMT upgrades are better.
Hmmm, yes. I think I got over-excited about Zugzwang’s First Move, thanks for spotting it.
Paul: There’s a typo in the Cheese Shoppe, Brie is listed twice. Otherwise, fast and awesome update!
how did you managed to get the pics for the other shards not available and the image for spring, summer and fall?
anyways, nice and very helpful update.. thanks..
Looks like the Spring Familiar mouse prefers SB (not required, but strong preference).
Are you positive that Spring Familiar mouse can be attracted by Gouda/lesser cheeses?
It OBVIOUSLY prefers SB, but am I on a fools errand by only using Gouda?
Yes, I’ve seen then being caught with other cheese.
ive been using gouda all the way through and have so far got all the shards
i cant seem to find a nice combination of trap base for getting the fire mage in summer season…. any suggestions?
luckiest tactical setup and gouda (when it’s summer again)
It would be great to have a season timer, or at least an indicator of some sort of the present season. Would you please add that to the wishlist for Furoma Tools?
Hunting in the Summer season offers the simplest choice of setup, your best tactical trap is the only way to hunt.
The Summer Mage is a rare mouse, but it does fortunately appear to drop the key shard when you first catch it.
I’d like to say that this isn’t exactly true. I was able to catch the Summer Mage, yet it did not drop a key shard. The drop rate is very high, though… I think I just got unlucky.
Error spotted at cheese shoppe, the last cheese shown should be Gouda cheese which costs 600, not brie
Thanks, this has now been fixed.
Is it just me or is this a good place to collect gold?
I have found using a strong trap according to the season, WBT and Swiss is quite profitable, for gold and points.
I haven’t been through Summer though.
Spring seems to bring many Puddlemancer and Tanglefoot mice which are each worth ~3k gold and ~8k points+!
I have lost a few points and made a few stales (which will become Ancient cheese anyway one day) but it seems quite worthwhile.
In the last 12 hours I’ve made:
58247 Gold
162274 Points
I’ve lost:
5996 Points (stolen)
I’ve had a total of 30 hunts/trap checks of which: 4 failed to attract; 5 “has eaten a piece of my cheese without setting it off”; and 1 stale.
Trap Setup: Chillbot/WBT/Swiss/Lucky Shield (3 hunts with SB+)
This is during spring by the way (if you couldn’t guess from the mice mentioned)
The Hydrophobe mouse is listed under both the Summer and Fall mice. Under Fall, you should replace it with the Scarecrow mouse.
i see too
Any word yet on the experiment we did using a tactical setup in Spring?
For the season break-out Hydrophobe appears twice, once in Spring (correct) and again in Fall (should be Scarecrow)
