Tier 1 (King’s Gauntlet)
This many-storied tower is the King’s personal challenge to MouseHunters everywhere: anyone who can reach the top is among the kingdom’s elite. The King’s Gauntlet works on a tier system, with Hunters advancing to the next floor by hunting with cheese that they collect on the current floor. The Gauntlet is meant as a challenge for hunters of all skill levels, but in order to ascend to the very top, a Hero’s rank will come in handy.
Overview
The first tier of the King’s Gauntlet is also the easiest. With six mice that are all quite weak even Initiate hunters should have no trouble here.
Most traps you possess at this stage will work well, and most cheese can be used.
Unfortunately, in reflection of the ease of this tier of the Gauntlet, the rewards to be found here are quite small.
Hunters are advised to arm their luckiest trap in order to collect potions quickly and move on to the second tier.
Requirements
To hunt in the King’s Gauntlet – Tier 1 a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least
Initiate.
Have purchased the King’s Gauntlet Floorplan from the Cartographer in the Harbour.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
Any Weapon.
Any cheese.
New Mice
There are 6 new mice to be found in this location, all of which are very weak and can be attracted by most cheese.

Cheese and Mice
Here we give an overview of the mice that can be encountered in this location, and how often you can expect to see them using various cheese.

| Base Attraction Rate | ||
When hunting on Tier 1, most cheese will suffice.
Marble is probably the most economical to use.
Swiss will result in higher attraction rates and you should be able to catch most mice that you attract.
Brie will attract more mice, but you are likely to lose gold hunting with it.
Setup Options
We currently do not have enough results for Setup Options.
Goals
Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:
Collecting Gauntlet Potions Tier 2
To progress to the next tier of the King’s Gauntlet a hunter will need to collect Gauntlet Potions Tier 2.
Fortunately, they are dropped by the most commonly encountered mice, and relatively frequently too.
The mice on Tier 1 are relatively weak and susceptible to physical traps. They shouldn’t pose a challenge to most hunters.
Arming a high luck trap will help to increase your drop rates slightly.

I haven’t done the number crunching, but it would appear that trap overkill slows the potion drop rate. I’m getting a substantially higher drop rate using a CCT/Magma/Brie/LS then using Chill/Magma/Brie/LS despite the 2% loss of luck and substantial loss in power.
Can anyone confirm?
I’ll agree. You don’t really need so much power in the first few tiers. I stuck with HGRH/Target instead of pushing with Chillbot after i found out that they really are effortless. Suggest maximize attraction and luck, and hold the power till later. I went with 30% attract (HGRH/Target).
I’m having outstanding attract and catch rate using CCT/GBB with Cheddar, Marble or swiss…. but what I’m getting are everything EXCEPT Puppet Master– not even an attract! Is there a different bait for this guy? I have more than enough potion drops to move up to Tier 2…
I’ve seen people attracting them with Swiss, but until we can start collecting data on populations we won’t know if there is a preference.
I have been ther for about 8 hours, and did not get any potion anybody knows if the drop rate was seasonal??? or if it has gone down????
No, unfortunately you will occassionally get long periods of no potions. But stay there long enough and you should also see times when you get 3 or 4 potions in half a dozen hunts.
I hunting on ACRONYM, Dehydration base and Swiss and no problem with all, after cca 4 days i have 21 potions and today i catch first puppet master… High luck is evidently the most important thing … and my 29 looks good.
how many potion do i need to move on to the next step?
Here is my stat:
—————-
Trap: Christmas Cracker Trap
Base: Wooden Base With Target

Puppet Master Mouse 15 1.36%
Sock Puppet Ghost Mouse 146 13.27%
Toy Sylvan Mouse 237 21.54%
Wound Up White Mouse 276 25.09%
————————————–
Total of Hunt: 1157
Total catch : 1100
FTA : 57
FTC : 0
Potion collected: 250 potion
Potion drop rate: 22.72%

Cheese converted (using Swiss) = 1000 cheese tier 2
Right now I’m hunting at Tier 2 floor. I will submit my stat after finished with 1000 cheese. ^_^
I hit Tier 1 with 1000 pieces of Swiss. I started with the NVMRC/Aqua/Swiss combination. I switched to the ACRoNYM/Aqua combination for the higher luck value and have seen a slight uptick in potion drops.
Here are my stats so far:
678 Trap checks (both horn and hourly)
555 Total Catches
130 Wind Up White
135 Hapless Marionette
126 Toy Sylvan
74 Clockwork Samurai
79 Sock Puppet Ghost
11 Puppet Master
121 Potions which will make 484 pieces of Tier II Cheese (or 726 using SB)
I switch from the NVMRC to ACRoNYM at about 375.
I really encourage people to go with a high luck combination as possible.
Once i finish off my initial 1000 pieces of Swiss, i too will be moving on to Tier 2.
Happy Hunting y’all.
