MouseHunt Analytics

Helping you to hunt more effectively

Tools: Overview and usage

Hello everyone! MouseHunt Analytics deal with the mechanism of MouseHunt – how to catch mice, the best places to hunt, and how to maximize profits and have more fun. Since this is the main purpose of the Analytics section, I decided to write an article on the different tools developed by us, which you’ll find here: Pooflinger’s MouseHunt Tools. Read on to find out all about the different tools, and how to use them effectively.

  • Log Summarizer: The Log Summarizer forms the base for the rest of the tools, as well as being an incredibly useful tool to find out how the hunting is going. So, what does it do? The Log Summarizer uses your journal entries (found on your Hunter’s Camp page under the title ‘Hunter’s Journal’ to give you a concise summary of your hunting data. See a sample by clicking here.

If you find it painstaking to copy and paste all your logs to the summarizer, you can use the MouseHuntizer to auto-post the journals to the Summarizer. Also consider using the Log Parser to separate journal data by location.

  • Catch Rates Estimates: Catch Rates Estimates is a tool that umm, tells you catch rates. It also provides a option for you to compare two setups side-by-side to find the better one. See a sample by clicking here.

Usage – Once you navigate to the tool, use the button to decide whether you want to use one or two setups. Then, select the Trap, Base, Cheese and Location for the setup, as well as your Hunter’s title and Golden Shield status. Once this is done, you’ll see a table with overall catch rates, overall attraction rates, points and gold per hunt, catch rates for each mouse in that location, and the expected number of catches per 100 hunts. All in all, a great tool.

  • Best Setup Generator: The Best Setup Generator generates a list of the best trap setups to catch a particular mouse. You select all the traps and bases you own, as well as your title and a mouse. The tool automatically tells you the 3 best setups to use to catch that mouse, along with estimated catch rates. You could use this in a variety of situation; for example, to find the best setup to catch a particular map-carrying mouse, or in a tournament which involves catching a certain mouse. And I’m sure our fellow MouseHunters can think of more creative uses for it too.

  • Best Locations Tool: The Best Location tool is another incredibly useful tool. How does it work? You select the traps, bases and cheese you own. Also select the locations you can travel to. Hit ‘Generate’, and the tool gives you a lot of useful information – the best setups and locations (with cheese!) for points and gold, information on all the trap setups, as well as gold, point, attraction and catch rates for each location and setup. The tool can even optionally take in a mouse, and generate the 5 best setups for catching the mouse, based on the information you’ve given.

Its so simple to use, yet amazingly useful, its hard to put it into words. You could use it for anything – to find out how to level up fastest, or how to earn enough money for that ACRoNYM really quickly. You could even figure out how to rapidly rise up the scoreboard!

Thats it for today. You can check out the rest of the tools here. Leave a comment if you want to know more, or if you have suggestions.

  1. MouseHuntizer is a Pooflinger’s tool that can help prefill the forms :) Plus many more features. Check it out.

  2. I was just wondering if its possible on the log summarizer if you could upgrade it to automatically differentiate between locations if you have traveled?

  3. @Justin: Why don’t you use the Log Parser? It even has a button to submit to the log summarizer.

  4. I can do that, it wasn’t until you mentioned it that I noticed they were different. since they were so similar in look, I assumed they were the same thing. Now I know better.

  5. I am wondering, how you prevent the doubled usage of the same log entries?
Do you store time and user?
Cause I guess it might be misleading if i use the parser/summarizer twice but some of the entries on my log pages are still the same, cause there werent more than 100 entries for example.
Are you able to filter the double used entries so they cant influence the stats twice?

    Curious:
    Thomas :)

  6. Thomas,

No, we can’t filter them out. But I do try and check for duplicates..

  7. Hello,

I’m a big fan of the site because it’s been really helpful to a new player starting out MouseHunt (:

However, I would like to bring one matter to your attention, regarding the Best Location setup.

I was trying to decide how to best earn gold for my Ronza trap, so I input the following:

Giant Speaker (not yet bought, but considering buying if it will help me get the Kraken faster, especially since I don’t have the Venus Mouse Trap yet)
    Sinister Portal
    HitGrab Horsey

    Dehydration Base
    Explosive Base

and it told me that my best bet would be using Giant Speaker in the Mousoleum, with Radioactive Blue.

However, I was under the impression from another of your articles that tactical traps didn’t work against Shadow mice?

Thank you so much for your attention,
    Stelmaryn
