Town of Digby

When the mice of the Burroughs overran the laboratory, the resourceful scientists created a fortified subterranean city. Unfortunately their creations proved to be just as resourceful and soon infiltrated the city.

Overview

At first glance the Town of Digby doesn’t appear to be more than a location with a trapsmith offering some new types of trap and a quick stop to pick up a map, but there are a couple of hidden facets to this location.

Granite mice drop meterorite pieces, which are used in crafting the very expensive, but potent Moon cheese – best used in the Mousoleum.

The Zombie Mouse dropss the map to the Mousoleum, at this stage one of the most difficult but profitable areas a hunter has encountered.

The Mole Mouse drops the map to the Training Grounds, allowing a hunter to avoid the Mousoleum if they choose to. The Mole Mouse can also drop the much rarer loot of part of Plankrun’s Journal.

Available here are Living Shards, which when combined with some Radioactive Sludge form a new cheese for the hunter to use here called Limelight.

Limelight attracts 11 entirely new mice that are only found in this location, and doesn’t attract any of the regular mice that are found here. Hunting with Limelight offers some very good point returns for the hunter.

Requirements

To hunt in the Town of Digby a Hunter must have:
A Hunter’s Title of at least Master.
The Key to the Town of Digby from a Dwarf Mouse in the Laboratory.
And it is recommended that a Hunter should have:
    A strong Physical Weapon.
    At least Swiss Cheese.

Hunting Tips by Larry

Congratulations on finding the secret research facility of Digby!

After the Laboratory was overrun with mice, the scientists fled here. Unfortunately, it did not take the mice long to find it. The scientists now need your help hunting down the intruders!

Be sure to visit the Trapsmith in Digby to view its experimental traps. You will notice an extremely powerful trap called the DrillBot, along with two strange portal traps. These portals use a form of damage called Shadow. A shadow trap will come in handy should you plan on heading west towards the dark graveyard.

Digby seems to be the perfect environment for the rare Mole mouse. If you have yet to discover this breed, hunting for it here may be worth your while. A Zombie mouse has also been rumored to be carrying a tattered piece of the map. I fear this map may lead west, towards. . . the dark forest. I like seeing you around, so make sure that you’re well prepared before traveling into the wilds.

Recent tunneling by town offiicials has also uncovered some construction mice, who appear to be digging a tunnel of their own. Along with these new intruders, the Town of Digby now has to deal with the worm-like Big Bad Burroughs mice, and their smaller cousins, the Itty-Bitty Burroughs mice.

Anyone wanting to catch these new subterranean breeds should use Limelight Cheese, which is made from Radioactive Sludge, Curds and Whey and Living Shards. Living Shards are available, for a premium, at the Digby general store, but rumor has it that they were also once used for experiments at the Laboratory.

Hunting the Big Bad Burroughs mouse is risky, but could pay off big. Digby scientists report that a Big Bad ran off with a rare slab of Ohnoesium ore the other day, and I’ve heard that Ohnoesium can be very valuable to hunters. . .

New Mice

There are 11 new mice in the Town of Digby that a hunter won’t have encountered before, and none of these mice can be found in other locations.

General Store

The General Store of the Town of Digby contains a small selection of items used for crafting cheese.

Supply Cost Refund
Curds and Whey
Curds and whey are a common ingredient in a variety of cheese flavours. Elaborate flavours often require a greater quantity than more basic flavours.
12 3

Living Shard
Even in a mineral-rich town like Digby, Living Shards are quite rare, and because they take a lot of time and effort to harvest, Digby’s General Store places their price at a premium. Digby tradition states that Dr. F. Romage once found a large deposit of the crystals, which he used in his experiments, and some of the crazier stories even claim that he used the living shards to bring the Monster mice to life. . . perhaps with a little luck a hunter may find some of these shards by hunting Monster mice in the Laboratory.

Salt
Gnawnia salt is collected from the seawater around the Harbour where it is known for its magical cleanliness. Salt is a very common ingredient used in a variety of cheese flavours.

Here is a breakdown of the populations of mice in the location based upon cheese used (these results come from our survey); the values given are a percentage of all attractions, and how many of these mice you are likely to attract in 100 hunts using base attraction:

(Please note, results with less than 1,000 hunts submitted have a low level of accuracy and should be used as guidelines only)

Goals

Here is a selection of Goals that a hunter may like to achieve:

Catch a Mole Mouse

The Mole Mouse is only found in three locations in the game, the Meadow, the Windmill and the Town of Digby.

While it is not common in any location, it is easiest to attract in the Windmill, however the Mole of the Town of Digby drops some desirable loot. Collecting a Shredded Furoma Map Piece from the Mole mouse is the only way for a hunter to skip past the Mousoleum location, useful if you don’t want to invest in a Shadow weapon just yet.

Unfortunately there is no special cheese to use, so catching this mouse just requires a lot of patience.

Fortunately the Mole Mouse is quite weak, so most traps you will be using by this stage will be able to catch it.

Collect Meteorite Pieces

The Meteorite piece is used for crafting Moon cheese, and is only dropped by the Granite Mouse and the extremely powerful Big Bad Burroughs Mouse in the Town of Digby.

Granite mice are quite common in this location, and are relatively easy to catch.

However, they don’t always drop a Meteorite Piece when you catch them.

Using a trap with a high luck will help you to collect more meteorite pieces.

Catch a Zombie with the Map

The Zombie mouse drops the Tattered Mousoleum Map that is required to gain access to the Mousoleum and – after upgrading – the Catacombs.

The Zombie can be quite powerful for newer hunters, but a strong or lucky physical trap should have no real problems with catching this mouse.

Catch a Big Bad Burroughs Mouse

The Big Bad Burroughs Mouse is one of the most powerful mice in the game. There is no special power type to give a bonus against this mouse, which actually makes it the mouse you will fail to catch most often.

The one good point about the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse is that it is reasonably common, so you should get plenty of opportunities to try and catch this mouse.

To maximise your chances of catching this mouse, you should use your trap that has the highest combination of luck and power.

Remember, even the best traps will miss this mouse 7 out of 8 times, so perseverance is the key!

One of the items of loot the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse can drop is the Monolith Base, and catching this mouse is the only way to get one. Unfortunately the Base is not a guaranteed drop, so maximise your luck to avoid disappointment.

Catch a Nugget Mouse

The Nugget Mouse is the rarest mouse encountered in the Town of Digby when using Limelight.

It is pretty weak, so most traps should be able to catch it.

Unfortunately there is no special technique to help you attract this mouse, Limelight has a very high attraction rate so a good attraction bonus won’t be of much use.

When hunting this mouse, prepare plenty of Limelight in advance. On average you’ll only see it about once every 200 pieces of Limelight, so you might want to consider going in with more than that to avoid disappointment.

The Nugget Mouse can drop some pretty impressive loot, such as the DrillBot Parts, but this is quite rare, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get it!

This article includes survey results from 25-Sep-10 to 27-Sep-10.

  1. Anonymous says:

What is drop rate of Meteorite?

  2. Matias Caire says:

I caught my first nugget mouse with only 30 limelight

  3. just asking, the MH wiki show steel mmouse to drop scrap metal in lab and ToD, may I clarify if this is true?

  4. Where do i get the tattered map to the Mousoleum? Is it dropped by the Zombie mice at the Lab or Town of Digby? the Shredded Furoma Map Piece also…

    • These pages are currently out of date.

At the moment you must get the Key to the Town of Digby from a Dwarf in the Laboratory and the Tattered Mousoleum Map from a Zombie in the Town of Digby.

The Shredded Furoma Map Piece is dropped by the Lycan in the Mousoleum or the Mole in the Town of Digby.

      • What is the best way to catch the mole mouse (I gave up on the lycan)? I have shadow (weak), physical, tactical, and hydro traps, brie cheese, and dehydration base. Any tips?

        • MonkeyMouse says:

@ Max: Since the Mole Mouse is in the indigenous group you should use your best trap regardless of power type. Use brie in Digby or white cheddar in the meadow or windmill. If you go white cheddar using the WBWT or Bacon base would be prudent since WC attraction is low.

  5. Will using the ambush trap be better or the digby drillbot?becos ambush has a higher luck but digby has a higher power.

  6. Will I get the Monolith Base when I catch the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse? Or just cant get the Monolith Base during the event?

  7. has anyone here ever got drillbot parts from a nugget mouse?

  8. OMG! Caught the Nugget with my 15-th piece!!

  9. I’m guessing that for catching the Big Bad Burroughs Mouse the best (non-LE) trap for hunters, with less than 24 mil points, is the ACRONYM. Thoughts?

  10. there a high roller mouse in digby? i missed again

    my trap:NVMRC/dehy/limelight

  11. do i use acro or ddb?

  12. If I’m Going to CAtch Some Nibbler What Cheese Should I Have To Arm?

    • Well its only attaracted by SB so that kinda leaves the cheese
i got it with HVMT and Tiki and SB but i guess any tac or psy trap works

  13. you have mistake in this text because Tattered Mousoleum Map can be dropped from Town of Digby by catching Zombie Mouse, not from Laboratory catching Zombie Mouse.

  14. I’m hero 9%… I wanna catch a Nugget Mouse with Digby Drill Bot parts, what is my best chance or trap set-up options? Thanks in advance.

    =D
